Colour Plates, First Edition, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding, Uncommon
Illustrated with a colour frontispiece and thirty-nine further plates, of which a further five are in colour. Collated, complete.
These illustrations are all the work of illustrator Lorna Burgoyne, about whom little is known. Burgoyne exhibited her flower miniatures in a Toronto Gallery in the 1930s.
An uncommon first edition thus of Shakespeare's comedy play, thought to have been authored between 1595 and 1596, and consisting of various sub plots surrounding the marriage of Theseus and Hyppolita.
Condition
In the publisher's original cloth binding. Bumping to spine head and tail. Light marks to tail of front board, with minor fading to rear board. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright, with instances of spotting throughout.
