Illustrated, Leather Binding

Illustrated with twelve tipped-in colour plates, and thirty-two monochrome plates. Collated complete. A comprehensive work on the watercolours created by the great masters of art, with articles on Turner, his predecessors, and his contemporaries, with a descriptive catalogue of the exhibition of selected artworks by artists of the early English school. Written by Alexander Joseph Finberg, an art historian who specialised in the history of British art. He also founded the Walpole Society and is considered an expert on Turner.

Condition

Bound in quarter calf with patterned boards. Front board of original grey paper wraps bound in. Externally, sound with rubbing and minor loss to the extremities. Fading to the spine and marks to the boards. Library label to the tail of the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with light spotting to the odd plate. Library stamps to the front endpapers and title page.
