A touching work comprising of a series of portraits and scenic paintings of the men fighting in World War One, painted from 1914-1915 whilst the artist was on the front line fighting.
Illustrated with sixty-four tipped in colour plates.
Collated, complete.
Including paintings of General Foch, General Dubail, General Sarrail, Admiral Ronarc'h, Raymond Poincare, General Gallieni, and more.
Bouchor was a notable portrait painter, known for his Orientalist themes.
Preface by H. G. Wells, who met Bouchor once when they were both under fire in early September 1916.
Introduction by Jean Richepin.

Condition
In the original publisher's paper wraps. Externally, worn. Rear wrap is detaching and a little torn. Tail of the spine and front wrap to the front joint is lifting. Some light marks to the wraps. Backstrip is lifting from the textblock in places. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with some spots, mostly to the first and last few pages, but the plates are bright. Author's inscription to the half-title.
