Prompted by his wife Annie, Earl Thomas Brassey narrates his travels aboard the luxury yacht 'Sunbeam'. With 50 illustrations, collated and complete. Launched in 1874, the Sunbeam became famous when Annie Brassey published a best-selling book describing the couple's adventures cruising the world. In this volume, the former Governor of Victoria describes their travels around the Mediterranean before expanding on their voyage to the West Indies, Venezuela, Jamaica, and the Bahamas, and their later passage to Canada. The book includes an account of when ex- Prime Minister William Gladstone accompanied the couple on a cruise to Scandinavia following his resignation in 1895.
Condition
In the publisher's original blue cloth binding. Externally, generally smart. Lightly rubbed to the spine and the boards. The spine and the back joint are discoloured. Internally, firmly bound. Aside from some light offsetting to the endpapers, pages are bright and clean.
