This short story by James Stephens, who was writing under the pseudonym James Esse, depicts the poverty in Dublin during the Irish Rebellion . James Stephens was an Irish novelist and poet during the late 19th and early 20th century. He retold many Irish myths, as well as publishing many social commentaries. This work is was printed locally in Dublin and includes the bookplate of a previous owner on the front pastedown (Norman F.H. Freudenthal). This copy also includes a protective chemise that was created for the book by a previous owner.
Condition
In the publisher's original paper bindings. Externally, generally smart with some shelf wear. Protective handmade chemise in fine condition. Internally, firmly bound with a few scattered spots, especially to the bottoms of the pages. Otherwise, pages bright and clean.
