A charming collection of fables credited to Aesop, a Greek storyteller and fabulist whose tales were characterised by the anthropomorphic animal characters. This collection includes: Death and Cupid, The Hare and The Tortoise, The Lion and The Mouse, The Travellers, The Young Men and The Cook. Illustrated by Charles Folkard, a British book illustrator and comic artist.
Condition
In the original pictorial green cloth binding. Externally, smart with light shelf wear and minor bumping to the extremities. Light fading to the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with light scattered spotting and the odd handling mark. Age toning to the endpapers. Contemporary ink inscription to the front endpaper dated 1931. Bookseller's label to the rear pastedown.
