The November 1917 A.L. Burt printing of this work, which was first published by Little, Brown and Co in July 1917. Published by arrangement with Little, Brown and Co, in the same illustrated dust wrapper by H. Weston Taylor, clipped to all four corners.

In this thrilling work, a film producer is found dead with apparent signs of suicide, resulting in a private detective investigating his death.

The work of prolific English novelist E. Phillips Oppenheim, who authored over one-hundred novels between 1887 and 1943. In 1927, he was featured on the cover of Time magazine.

With six pages of publisher's advertisements to the rear.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding, with dust wrapper clipped to all four corners. Bumping to back strip head and tail, otherwise externally excellent. Dust wrapper significantly age toned to back strip, with handling marks to rear wrap. Chipping to back strip head and tail. Edgewear and two small tears to head of front wrap. Internally, firmly bound, but with head of frontispiece detached. Pages clean and bright.
