With a biographical introduction of John Bennet Lawes and Joseph Henry Gilbert, the early scientists of the Rothamsted Experimental Station. Lawes and Gilbert were highly successful in their field, and are largely recognised as the founders of modern scientific agriculture. Rothamsted Experimental Station, now known as Rothamsted Research, is one of the oldest agricultural research institutions in the world. It is located in Hertfordshire in the United Kingdom.
