The first and only edition of this work. Dated from Copac. Complete in two volumes.
Containing the beautiful illustrations of Louis Raemaeker accompanied by text authored by the likes of Gilbert Keith Chesterton, Thomas Herbert Warren, Francis Powys Stopford (who also edited the work), William Ralph Inge, and others.
Louis Raemaeker was a Duch painted and cartoonist for the Amsterdam newspaper 'De Telegraaf' during World War, known for his anti-German stance.
Featuring lovely coloured illustrations printed in text to recto as called for.
Condition
In half morocco binding over cloth covered boards, titles in gilt to spine. Externally with light shelf wear and rubbing to spine and joints, occasional minor scuffing to extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages generally bright and clean.
