The prologue and six of the stories had previously appeared in the 'National Observer'. Grahame casts his reminiscences in imagery and metaphor rooted in the culture of Ancient Greece. Many of the chapter titles refer to figures of Greek mythology. This edition is a first thus, and is the first edition illustrated throughout by R J Enraght-Moony.
Condition
In original cloth binding, with pictorial front board. Externally, smart with light rubbing to the extremities. A few light spots to boards. Rear board is faded. Lacking original dustwrapper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are slightly age toned to edges. Just the odd spot.
