Illustrated with eight full-page maps and one folding map to Volume I. Illustrated with seven full-page maps and one folding map to Volume II. Collated, complete.

Henry George Keene (1781-1864) was a soldier and civil servant of the East India Company. He was a Persian scholar. In this two-volume work, he provides a sweeping history of India, from the rise of Buddhism, to India under the Viceroy George Nathaniel Curzon, 1st Marquess Curzon of Kedleston.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally smart, with very light shelf wear to the extremities and boards. Spine to Volume I is slightly faded. Binding is slightly strained towards the rear of Volume I; otherwise both volumes are firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean apart from spotting to the first and last couple of pages.
