Colour Plates, First Edition, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding

A first edition copy of The Wilds of Maoriland by James Mackintosh Bell, who was a fellow of the Geological Society. The volume traces Bell's travels from Whangaroa to the North Cape, the Hauraki Goldfields, and considers the geography and climate of New Zealand. 
 
With seven colour plates and a colour frontispiece, two folding maps to the rear and forty two balck and white plates. 
Collated, complete. 

With two pages of publisher adverts to the rear.

With a bookplate for Henry Hannen to the front pastedown.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, smart with some fading to the joints and spine and some bumping to the head and tail of the spine. With a bookplate for Henry Hannen to the front pastedown and a pencil inscription to the front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Front and rear free endpapers are age toned but the rest of the pages are bright and clean.
