With two photogravure plates to vol. I; two to vol II; three to vol. III; three to vol. IV; two to vol. V; one to vol VI; one to vol VII; one to vol. VIII; frontispiece to vol. X; frontispiece and further plate to vol. XI; frontispiece and fifteen coloured plates to vol XII; fifteen coloured plates, maps, and portraits to vol. XIII. Collated, bound without frontispieces to vols I-IX and XIII. 

Published by The Amalgamated Press, British newspaper and magazine founded by journalist Alfred Harmsworth in 1901. The first volume is largely concerned with justifying Britain's entry into the war, and encourages the British people to sign up and fight.

Condition

In uniform full cloth bindings. Externally lovely with only light bumping to head and tail of spine. Internally, firmly bound. Light spotting affecting only occasional leaf, particularly leaves of plates; pages otherwise generally bright and clean.
