The first edition of this scarce collection of nursery rhymes published by Ward, Lock & Co. in 1914. Some of the rhymes included are 'A apple pie,' 'As I was going o'er London Bridge,' 'Charley wag, Charley wag,' and 'Goosey, Goosey, Gander, where shall I wander?'
Illustrated with forty eight full coloured plates by Margaret W. Tarrant. Collated, complete with the frontispiece loose but present.
With four leaves of advertisements to the rear.
Condition
In the original publisher's cloth binding with a coloured illustration laid on to the front board. Externally very smart with only minor shelf wear and some bumping to the head and tail of the spine and extremities, with some minor chipping to the head of the spine. Internally, the binding is slightly tender, causing the frontispiece and p. xvii-xviii to be loose but present, and the occasional leaf to be slightly loose. P. 111 has a minor closed tear. The pages are generally bright and clean with some light foxing to the fore edge, affecting the occasional leaf throughout. Illustrated with forty eight full coloured plates by Margaret W. Tarrant. Collated, complete with the frontispiece loose but present.
