What Our Customers Say...
Description
Colour Plates, Early Edition, Publishers' Original Binding
Illustrated with a colour frontispiece, this is the second edition of barrister G. M. Skues' discussion of his 'nymph' fishing theories, tested on the chalk-streams in Hampshire.
First published in 1810, this was written during a time where the fishing field was embroiled in a 'wet versus dry' argument.
With the illustrated bookplate of Charles D. Edwards to the front pastedown. This bookplate was printed on Japanese vellum from an ink drawing by Scottish illustrator Jessie Marion King. Known for her children's book illustrations, she was one of the artists termed the Glasgow Girls, and was influenced in her illustrations by the Art Nouveau period.
With two pages of advertisements to the rear.
