Illustrated by E. J. Sullivan, with an introduction by Augustine Birrell. Falling somewhere between the genres of memoir and novel, this work has long been considered a classic of 19th-century English literature. George Borrow was a English novelist and writer of travel works. During his travel he build a close relationship with the Romani people of Europe, who heavily influenced his writings. In fact the title of this particular work 'Lavengro' is derived from a Romani word that translates into 'word master'.
Condition
Rebound in a blue morocco binding with gilt detailing. Externally, sound, although with some sunning to the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean, aside from some light spotting to the textblock edge.
