Signed letter from Lewis Williams Douglas III loosely inserted, dated September 30 1966, 'Dear Luigi: I thought you would like to have a copy of LANDS FORLORN which your Great, Great Grandfather financed and NEW ENGLAND and NEW FRANCE which he wrote, so much love, Lula, Master Lewis Williams Douglas III'.

Lewis Douglas was a politician, businessman, and academic, his father was the author's cousin.

George Douglas' first hand account of the 1911-12 expedition of the Coppermine River in Canada, a three man expedition led by Douglas.

The purpose of the expedition was to search for minerals in the watershed of the Coppermine about the Arctic Circle, upon which they found huge copper deposits.

Illustrated with a colour frontispiece, two folding maps, and in-text photographs throughout, all photographs from the author.

With an introduction by James Douglas.

Condition

In the original publisher's cloth binding, in the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, with very light bumping to the spine. A couple of very light marks to the boards. Dust wrapper with a few small tide marks, and very light edge wear.Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean, with just a couple of spots to the title page.
