Holmes explains this undertaking was prompted by a 1905 message from the Convocation of Canterbury that each diocese should ascertain 'what records the several officers of the Church in the Diocese are at present custodians'.

In the publisher's original quarter cloth binding, with paper covered boards. Light shelf wear to spine head. Internally, firmly bound. Some light foxing throughout.
