First thus, being the first editions of these works as part of The Tales for Children from Many Lands series, with these particular illustrations.

Dated using Jisc from copies of the work held at the University of Oxford and the University of Manchester libraries.

Bound in pictorial cloth, with a coloured illustration pasted to the front cover. 

These charming tales were published as part of The Tales for Children from Many Lands series, which featured a number of children's books edited by F. C. Tilney, accompanied by illustrations from various artists, as well as bright, decorative binding. 

This particular pairing is comprised of 'Sinbad the Sailor and Other Tales from the Arabian Nights' and Jonathan Swift's 'Gulliver's Travels'.

'Sinbad the Sailor' is complete with eight coloured plates, illustrated by T. H. Robinson and Dora Curtis. 'Gulliver's Travels' contains eight coloured plates by Arthur Rackham. Collated, complete.

With a remembrance stamp of 'In aid of Jack Cornwell' to the front paste down of 'Gulliver's Travels'. Jack Cornwell was a sixteen-year-old boy who was remembered for his bravery after dying at the Battle of Jutland during the First World War. 

Condition

Bound in the publisher's original cloth. Externally, very smart, with minor shelf wear and a little fading to the spine of 'Sinbad'. 'Gulliver's Travels' is a little more worn, with light bumping and rubbing, and darkening to the spine. Stamp to the front paste down of 'Gulliver's Travels', and the odd mark to endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean, with the occasional spot to 'Gulliver's Travels'.
