This work describes the author's encounters with native tribes in New Guinea, as well as his exploration of many untouched jungles; he had the first Western encounter with the Tapiro pygmies, and was the first European to reach many of the regions he explored during the expedition.
Written by Cecil Godfrey Rawling, a British explorer, soldier and writer, the recipient of awards from numerous governments for his expeditions to Tibet and Dutch New Guinea. He wrote two works about his experiences, before he was tragically killed in battle during the First World War.

In the publisher's original full cloth binding. Externally generally smart, with just a little bumping to the extremities; spine is a little faded as to be expected. W H Smith's library bookplate to the front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Map has a tear of about three inches not affecting image.
