The first edition.

A vivid account of Willi Rickmer Rickmers' travels across Turkestan over a period of twenty years. The author presents a detailed study on the physical geography of the region in Central Asia. 

The 'Duab' of Turkestan is the land sitting between the two rivers Amu-darya and the Sir-darya. Rickmers explores the important regions of Turkestan, such as Bokhara and Samarkand, discussing their culture, topographical history, and geography. 

Illustrated with a frontispiece, two folding maps, and in-text photographs throughout.

The author was a German mountaineer, explorer, and ski pioneer. He first travelled to the area in 1894, visiting a further four times in quick succession. 

Collated, complete.

Condition

In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, generally smart, with some marks to the boards and spine. Light bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Spine is discoloured Light rubbing to the spine and extremities, a little light rubbing to the boards. Hinges are a little strained but remain firm. Spots to the endpapers. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Some of the tissue guards are torn and chipped.
