The first edition of this work.

The author's own copy for corrections, with her ink inscription to the recto to the front endpaper of Volume I, 'Marie C. Stopes, Dec. 1913, Author's Copy- for corrections-'. One pencil note to the text of Volume I to page 41.

Presented by the trustees of the British Museum, with a label to the front paste down.

An interesting and detailed catalogue of the mesozoic plants held in the British Museum, focusing particularly on the cretaceous flora.

Volume I containsing a bibliography, and algae & fungi. Illustrated with one folding table, two plates, and in-text illustrations. 

Volume II containing lower greensand (aptian) and plants of Britain. Illustrated with thirty-two plates, and in-text illustrations.

Collated, complete.

By Marie Stopes, noted for her contributions to plant palaeontology, and women's rights. She founded the first birth control clinic in Britain, and published the controversial sex manual 'Married Love', her work bringing the subject of birth control to the public.

Thirty-two pages of adverts to the rear of both volumes.

Condition

In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, smart. Minor bumping to the spines and extremities. Small crack to the head of the rear joint of Volume II. A little fading and minor marks to the boards and spines. Front hinge of Volume II is strained. Presentation label to the front paste downs. Author's inscription to the recto to the front endpaper of Volume I. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with some spots.
