This work narrates the history of Westmorland agriculture between 1800 and 1900, also describing agricultural societies, markets and fairs and the various animals and dairy products farmed.

Containing the ownership bookplate and inscription of John Fairfax-Blakeborough OBE (1883-1976), English author of one hundred and twelve works on horse-racing and the folklore of Yorkshire.

With a letter from Howard Robson of the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association, which describes the history of the Cumberland Sheepdog.

Illustrated throughout, and with a number of maps.

An extremely scarce work on the history of agriculture in this historic county, now known as Cumbria.

Condition

In a quarter paper vellum binding. Externally generally smart, with a little bumping to extremities and the tail of the spine, as well as some wear to the boards. Ownership bookplate and inscription to the front pastedown and endpaper respectively. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
