There were five trial days in total, with a verbatim account of proceedings of each day included. Preceding the day-by-day account, there is a list of dates and the names of thecounsel. A sensational trial that gripped the attention of the general public at the time, and was reported by press on both sides of the Atlantic.

More than a century after his death Maybrick, was accused of being Jack the Ripper following the revelation of a diary in which he confessed. This was subsequently found to be a hoax. Researcher Bruce Robinson believes that his brother Michael Maybrick was the true killer.

Significant spotting to fore edge of back strip, with spots penetrating to pages themselves. Former owner's inscription to front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Spotting and areas of foxing throughout, most concentrated to page perimeters.
