What Our Customers Say...

Description

First Edition, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding, Scarce

This delightful work chronicles young Hughie's second visit to his beloved zoo and the new animals he meets and talks to. Edmund Selous, the author, was an ornithologist and writer, noted for his abhorrence at the killing of animals for scientific study, pioneering bird-watching as study over egg and skin collection; he was the brother of big-game hunter and explorer Frederick Selous. First edition. With monochrome illustrated plates. This charming series of conversations between an eager young protagonist and his animal friends is very much the work of a conscientious appreciator of the natural world.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding with stamped decoration to the front board. Externally, very smart, with only minor shelfwear to the head and tail of the spine and extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean.
