A first edition in publisher's original cloth binding.
This work contains a collection of The Lowell Lectures, which were delivered by J. Holland Rose in February and March in Boston, 1912.
Holland divides his lectures into sections such as The Warrior, The Man and The Thinker, in order to examine different aspects of Napoleon's personality.
This work contains illustrations of three maps and plans, comprising of North Italy, The Upper Danube and The Battle of Austerlitz. Collated complete.
With considerable ink annotations on first blank and half title page, detailing further thoughts on Napoleon from a previous reader. Also included is a newspaper article on Napoleon, paste down to inside back cover, with ink inscription dated 1945.
Condition
In original publishers binding. Externally generally smart with light rubbing to extremities, particularly the spine. Marks on boards. Spine slightly faded, with the occasional mark. Good colour on boards. Some slight wear to head and tail of spine. Light offsetting to endpapers. Occasional mark to endpapers. Newspaper article paste down to inside back cover, with ink inscription dated 1945. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean, with occasional pencil mark.
