    The first edition of this work in the publisher's original cloth binding, with a colour plate pasted to the front board.

    Illustrated with a colour frontispiece, seven monochrome plates and numerous in-text illustrations. Collated, complete.

    A fascinating historical study of the development of smuggling in the period 1700 to 1855, with accounts of various gangs and events. Written by Edward Keble Chatterton (1878-1944), a prolific writer, well-known for his works on maritime and naval themes. Illustrated throughout.

    Condition

    In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally bright and smart, except for the spine which is slightly faded. Very light shelf wear to the extremities and to the head and tail of the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with the odd spot throughout.
