Description

First Edition, Folding Maps, Illustrated, Rebound

A fascinating and very detailed anthropological study on the Oban District of Nigeria, including the culture, religious beliefs, political state, social relations, folk lore, and more.

Written by Percy Amaury Talbot, a British academic and anthropologist who specialised in African studies. Talbot was also an avid explorer and served with the Nigerian Political Service. To prepare and research for this work, he travelled extensively throughout the Oban District and Cameroon studying the Ekoi people.

The first edition of this work.

Illustrated with a frontispiece, a large folding map to the rear, a folding plate, a further one hundred and twenty-one plates, and numerous in-text illustrations. Collated and complete.

This book was previously housed at the Cranbrook School Library, and has been rebound in library cloth. It contains library marks to the spine, and the odd library stamp throughout.
