Illustrated with a colour frontispiece and fifteen colour plates by A. C. Michael, as well as two double-page maps. Collated, complete.
A history of France written for children by the British author Henrietta Elizabeth Marshall (1867-1941), best known for her 1905 bestseller Our Island Story.
Starting with the Gauls, Marshall traces France's history through Charlemagne, Napoleon, and the various Kings of France, finishing with the Third Republic.
Condition
In the publisher's original pictorial cloth binding. Externally smart, though somewhat faded to the spine, with shelf wear to the joints and extremities. Front hinge is starting but is firmly held. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean except for the odd spot to the first few pages.
