Complete in two volumes. 

The Royal Commission on Historical Monuments' extensive study into the topography, history, and antiquities of the county of Buckinghamshire. 

Volume One covers the south of the county, and Volume Two the north. 

The Royal Commission on Historical Monuments was founded in 1908, aiming to document the buildings and monuments in England that hold historical, architectural, and archaeological important. 

From 1910-1977 the Commission published 17 works on the antiquities of the counties of England and various significant cities. These volumes on Buckinghamshire were the second work they produced, following a volume on Hertfordshire.

Volume I illustrated with a frontispiece, one folding map, one folding plate, and seventy-five plates.

Volume II illustrated with a colour frontispiece, one folding map, and eighty-three plates.

Collated, complete.

Condition

In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, smart. Light bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. A few light marks to the boards and spines. Small patch of loss to the tail of the spine of Volume 2. Light spots to the endpapers. Prior owner's ink to the front paste downs, and to the recto of the front endpaper of Volume I. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Plate facing page 64 in Volume I is detaching.
