A very smart collection of artistic reproductions of the work of Henry Ospovat, a Russian artist who is known for his caricatures. After immigrating to Great Britain, he illustrated editions of the poems of Matthew Arnold and Shakespeare. 

The first edition of this work. 

Illustrated with a tipped-in frontispiece portrait of Ospovat, two tipped-in plates in colour, and sixty black and white plates to the rear.

Collated and complete.

Including an introduction and biography of Ospovat by Oliver Onions. 

Containing a previous owner's small ink inscription to the front free-endpaper.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, smart, with some shelf wear to the boards and a small amount of bumping to the head and tail of the spine and extremities. Containing a previous owner's small ink inscription to the front free-endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. A few spots to the first and last few pages, otherwise pages are bright and clean.
