First edition. Very scarce. Illustrated throughout with a frontispiece and numerous in-text and full-page images. A detailed history of the city of Bath, in Somerset, England, known for and named after its Roman-built baths. With chapters on the land before the city was built, the coming of the Romans, the legend of Bladud, the time of the Saxons, Danes, and Normans, the Reformation, the civil war, Ralph Allen and the post office, royal visits to Bath, and modern Bath. Written by Alfred Trice Martin, an English school master who was appointed headmaster of Bath College.

Condition

In the original full cloth binding. Externally, smart with light rubbing and minor bumping to the extremities. Minor fading to the spine with the odd small mark to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with minor age toning to the endpapers.
