Richard Wagner's 'Tannhauser', an impressive poetical opera written in three acts. The opera focuses on the struggle between sacred and profane love, based off the German legend Tannhauser, and the tale of the Wartburg Song Contest.
Translated into English by T. W. Rolleston.
Beautifully illustrated by Willy Pogany, an eminent Hungarian illustrator known for his Art Nouveau style and artistic contributions to children's novels in the Golden Age of Book Illustration.
Condition
In a full suede binding. Externally, front board is detached but present, backstrip is detaching with some loss. Rubbing and some light marks to the boards. Loss to the extremities. Rear hinge is strained. Lacking the front endpaper. Internally, binding is strained. Pages are bright and clean. Title page and first four pages of text are detached but present.
