A collection of the letters of George Borrow, the English author who is best known for his novels featuring the Romani people of Europe, which whom he developed a close affinity.
These letters were all written to the British and Foreign Bible Society. The letters were the basis of his travelogue 'The Bible in Spain'.
Illustrated with a folding plate to the frontispiece, and one plate.

In the original publisher's quarter cloth binding with paper to the boards. Externally, smart. A few minor marks and patches of rubbing to the boards and spine. Light fading to the spine. A little bumping to the head and tail of the spine. Spots to the fore edge. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned and generally clean with the odd spot, mostly to the first and last few pages. Pages uncut to the top edge.
