A scarce first edition. In the publisher's original cloth binding with gilt title. With a frontispiece, 28 monochrome photographs and a map of the author's journey. The writings of Rev. John Augustine Zahm, under the pseudonym of H. J. Mozan, during his time exploring South America. Zahm was a Holy Cross priest, author, scientist and explorer of South America, best known for his popular books, 'The Quest for El Dorado', and 'In South America's Southland'. With an introduction by Colonel Theodore Roosevelt, the 26th president of the United States.
Condition
In the publisher's original cloth binding with gilt title. Externally, smart with shelf wear to the extremities and spine. Fading to the spine and a few handling marks to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages very bright and clean with some light age-toning to the edges. A small tear to the half title page and a small ink mark to the bottom of page 7. The final page of the index is uncut.
