Second edition, fully revised. Scarce. Illustrated with a colour frontispiece, one hundred and eighty-six images, many of which are on plates, and thirteen maps, one of which is folding. Collated complete. A detailed and comprehensive history of Egypt from the Old Kingdom, early religion, and the builders of the pyramids, to the Empire, the Restoration, and the final struggles. Written by James Henry Breasted, an American archaeologist, Egyptologist, and historian who, after completing his PhD at the University of Berlin in 1894, became the first American to obtain a doctorate in Egyptology.

Condition

In the original pictorial cloth binding. Externally, smart with rubbing and minor bumping to the extremities. Light fading to the spine with the odd small mark to the boards. Small splits in the cloth to the head and tail of the spine. Hinges tender. Internally, generally firmly bound with the odd page detached but present. Pages are very bright with the odd small handling mark. Light spotting and minor age toning to the endpapers.
