Exploring Romantic painter William Turner's life and art. Exploring the history of the artist, in eight parts: 'A Memory: Tells of a Boy who Loved Turner's 'View of Orvieto'', 'From 'Folly Bridge' to 'Calais Pier,'' documenting his life from 1775, his birth, to 1803, 'From 'The Shipwreck' to an Early Golden Visions,' from 1804 to 1810, 'From a Journey to Devonshire to his Return from Italy,' from 1811 to 1820, 'From 'The Bay of Baele' to 'Ulysses Deriding Polyphemus,'' from 1822 to 1829, 'From 'The Interior at Petworth' to the Period of the 'Unfinished' Oils,' from 1830 to 1834, 'From a Consideration of the 'Unfinished' Oils to 'Rain, Steam, and Speed,' and the Last Sketch-Books,' from 1835 to 1845, and 'The Years of Decline and the End,' from 1846 to 1851, when he died.

In the original publisher's gilt blocked cloth binding and golden endpapers. Externally stunning with only minor shelfwear and a slight bumping to the head and tail of the spine. With Helen E. Schletter's bookplate to the front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean. Profusely illustrated throughout with tipped in coloured plates. Collated, complete.
