Alexandre Dumas was a prominent and popular French writer of the nineteenth century, known for his historical and adventure novels including the extremely successful The Count of Monte Cristo and The Three Musketeers among others.
The present group is comprised of three English translations, of Marguerite de Valois, The Queen's Necklace, and Chicot, the Jester from the Aramis Edition of his works, complete in twenty-four volumes. Dated from Copac.
Each featuring coloured frontispiece and other black and white plates. In lovely uniform half calf bindings signed F. & E. Stoneham.
Condition
In uniform half calf bindings over cloth covered boards, five raised bands, gilt tooling to spine, marbled endpapers, gilt to top edges. Externally very smart with minor shelf wear, sunned to spine, minor rubbing. Internally, firmly bound. Minor spotting to fore edge, affecting only the occasional margin, otherwise pages bright and clean. With coloured frontispiece and other black and white plates.
