In a sumptuous tree calf Oxford Binding. With a frontispiece of the author from a portrait by A. E. Chalon. Romantic English poet Lord Byron was an infamous figure of Romanticism known for his mannerisms and particular character. He was made famous by his long autobiographical poem Childe Harold's Pilgrimage, his many love affairs, and is better known today for the satiric realism of Don Juan. His poetry is characterised by the use of blank verse, allusive imagery, heroic couplets, and complex structure. A lovely copy of this collection of poetry from a key figure of the romantic period.
Condition
In a tree calf binding with gilt detail. Externally in excellent condition with just slight rubbing to the joints and the head and tail of the spine. Front hinge slightly strained but firm. Internally firmly bound. Pages generally bright and clean with marginal age toning and the odd spot, heavier to the front and rear blanks.
