This work features a collection of letters written by Lafcadio Hearn and was edited with an introduction and preface providing bibliographical information on Hearn written by Elizabeth Bisland. Lafcadio Hearn was best known for teaching the West about Japanese culture, having moved from America to Japan. Lafcadio wrote many works on Japanese culture, with a particular interest in their legends and ghost stories. This collection of letters provides insight into Lafcadio's life in Japan.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth. Externally very smart with very minimal bumping and rubbing to the extremities and rubbing to the red emblem to the front board. Bookplate belonging to a 'Anna P. Livingston' to the front pastedown and a bookseller's label to the rear. Internally firmly bound with clean and very lightly age toned pages.
