Pendennis is a satire on human character and aristocratic society. This is much alike to Thackeray's most famous novel, Vanity Fair. It follows the protagonist, Arthur Pendennis, who is from the country. Pendennis travels to London to seek his place in life and society. In a very smart half morocco binding with paper covered boards. Undated, dated using copac. With a prize bookplate from Harrow School to the front pastedown. With an introduction by George Saintsbury, an English literary historian and scholar. He discusses the bibliography of this novel, and context behind Thackeray's writing process. A lovely copy of this well-known novel.

Condition

In a half morocco binding with cloth covered boards. Externally, very smart. Just some light marks to the spine. Bookplate to the front pastedown from Harrow School. Internally, firmly bound. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with just the odd spots.
