A collection of Greek hero myths, including: The Argonauts, The Prowess of Hercules, The Heraclidae, The Story of Perseus, and The Story of Theseus. Translated with additions from the original German of Barthold Georg Niebuhr, a Danish–German statesman, banker, and historian who became Germany's leading historian of Ancient Rome. Illustrated by Arthur Rackham, an English book illustrator recognised as one of the leading figures during the Golden Age of British book illustration.
Condition
In the original full brown cloth binding. Externally, smart with minor rubbing and bumping to the extremities. Light fading to the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd spot or handling mark. Age toning to the endpapers. Contemporary ink inscription to the front endpaper dated 1915.
