1910 The Grecians; A Dialogue on Education
What Our Customers Say...
Description
First Edition, Publishers' Original Binding
The first edition of this curious work from British novelist, playwright and poet James Elroy Flecker. Flecker is best remembered for his verse drama 'Hassan', a verse of which is inscribed on the clock tower of the barracks of the British army's SAS regiment in Hereford, and enduring testimony to the strength of Flecker's work.
This volume, divided into five chapters, is Flecker's investigation into education styled as a dialogue. The author explains in his preface that he has 'tried to make this dialogue resemble a real conversation, and have aimed at abruptness, vigour, and compression rather than at rounded periods and exact arrangement of subject'.
With the contemporary owner's inscription of E. E. Faithfull, dated 1916, to the front free endpaper.
