This the sequel to Louisa May Alcott's Eight Cousins, which depicts the story of a nineteenth-century girl, Rose Campbell, finding her way in society. This novel continues Rose's story into young adulthood, depicting courtship and marriage, poverty and charity, transcendental poetry and prose, and illness and death among her family and friends. 2 pages of publisher's advertisements to the rear.
Condition
In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally sound, with marks to the boards and a couple of ink stains to the front board. Gilt to the spine is still bright. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, except for some pencil inscriptions to the front paste down and front free end paper and one of the pages of text. Colour crayons used to the frontispiece. Loss to the front free end paper and a small closed tear to page 87.
