    First Edition, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding, With Dustwrapper

    The first edition, first impression, of this work.

    In the original unclipped dust wrapper.

    'Rewards and Fairies' is a collection of historical fantasy short stories by Rudyard Kipling.

    The stories and poems in this work are a linked narrative. It follows Kipling's other work, 'Puck of Pook's Hill', and is set one year later.

    The stories follow Dan and Una who live in the Weald of Sussex, two children who had encountered Puck. He magically conjures up real and fictional characters to tell stories to the children.

    Illustrated with four plates, by Frank Craig.

    Collated, complete.

    Kipling is best known for his works 'The Jungle Book', and 'Kim'. He was born in India and found a lot of his work inspired by the country, and he was one of the most popular writers of his time.

    Condition

    In the original publisher's cloth binding, in the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, smart. Light rubbing and bumping to the head and tail of the spine. Spine is a little discoloured. A few minor marks to the boards. Tail of the spine is a little faded. Gift inscription to the verso of the front endpaper. Dust wrapper is worn, with a large amount of loss to the tail of the spine, smaller loss to the head of the spine, and smaller chips and closed tears to the wraps. Spine is heavily age-toned. Light spots to the wraps. Small chips to the joints. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
