What Our Customers Say...

Description

First Edition, Folding Maps, Folding Plates, Illustrated, Original Binding

First edition.

This complete set was bound in two cloth volumes on behalf of the Geologists' Association. It was generally brought out in five different volumes with paper covers so that people could bind it themselves to use in the field.

Volume I is illustrated with various in-text illustrations, nine black-and-white plates, and two folding maps.

Volume II is illustrated with various in-text illustrations, ten black-and-white plates, and nine folding maps.

'Geology in the Field' was the outcome of a wish to memorialise and celebrate fifty years since the foundation of the Geologists' Association. This work is intended as a 'good general guide to the Geology of England and Wales', with geologists from different localities contributing articles over the years to cover all the necessary districts.

Edited by H. W. Conckton and R. S. Herries.

Collated, complete.

Condition

In the original cloth binding. Externally, smart. Both volumes are bright. Some bumping to head and tail of spine as well as extremities. Some fading along front joints. A few marks to boards, particularly Volume I. Paste downs are age-toned and a bit discoloured. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and very clean, with some age-toning along margins. Plate I is coming loose from the binding, and Folding Plate XXVI facing page 780 has torn cleanly from rest of page.
