What Our Customers Say...

Description

Author's Presentation Copy, First Edition, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding

A presentation copy of Bosses & Corbels of Exeter Cathedral An Illustrated Study in Decorative & Symbolic Design by E. K. Prideaux and G. R. Holt Shafto.

This work is an illustrated study in decorative and symbolic design within Exeter Cathedral, specifically considering the corbels and bosses. Corbels are a structural piece of stone, wood or metal jutting from a wall to carry a super incumbent weight, being a type of bracket. Bosses are the carved underside of the key-stone that forms the meeting point of several converging vaulting ribs.

Richly illustrated throughout and with a loose folding map to the rear in a pocket.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, very smart with some light bumping to the head and tail of the spine. A Previous owner bookplate to the front pastedown. Presentation copy stamp to the title page. Internally, firmly bound with bright and clean pages.
