In two volumes, 'Alice's Adventures in Wonderland' and 'Through the Looking-Glass', both printed with red accents to the boards.

'Alice's Adventures in Wonderland', is one of the best known children's books of all time, and has become the favourite to children and adults alike. It follows Alice as she falls through a rabbit role into a strange world with talking animals and magical potions.

Illustrated with a frontispiece, and in-text illustrations throughout. Collated, complete. One-hundred and sixty-second thousand stated to the edition page.

'Through the Looking-Glass' follows Alice back to Wonderland, being the sequel to Carroll's important children's novel. This novel in particular is renowned for the verses 'Jabberwocky' and 'The Walrus and the Carpenter'. 'Looking-Glass' was the first 'Alice' novel to gain widespread popularity. 

Illustrated with a frontispiece, and in-text illustrations throughout. Collated, complete. One-hundred and fifth thousand stated to the edition page.

Lewis Carroll was the pseudonym for Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, who is best known for his 'Wonderland' books. His books are of the nonsense genre, playing with logic and fantasy. It's the general belief that his character Alice was based off Alice Liddell, a relationship that has caused a great amount of controversy.

Illustrated by John Tenniel, who was knighted for his artists achievements in 1893. He is best known for his illustrations for 'Alice's Adventures in Wonderland' and 'Through the Looking-Glass', and also for his political cartoons for 'Punch'.

Condition

In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, smart. Light bumping to the spines and extremities. Minor marks to the boards and spines. A little rubbing to the spines and extremities. Former tape and label marks to the rear endpaper and rear paste down of 'Looking-Glass'. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with some spots and handling marks.
