What Our Customers Say...
Description
Early Edition, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding
From celebrated horticulturist and writer Alicia Amherst, writing under the pen-name of Mrs Evelyn Cecil, this history of gardening was a huge and immediate success upon publication. Prior to this work, gardening books had all been practical manuals and Amherst was the first to take a historical look at horticulture, the work becoming an authoritative guide still used by historians. Updated third edition. With monochrome photographic throughout. An explorer and advocate of women horticulturists, Alicia Amherst remains celebrated for her contribution to the field with 'A History of Gardening in England'.
