A thoroughly illustrated set following the travels of Sven Hedin through the Persian desert all the way to India, complete of photographs and illustrations by the author. The first edition, published both in English and Swedish.
Sven Hedin was a Swedish photographer, topographer, explorer, and writer. He was the first person to ever explore the Trans-Himalaya mountain range of Tibet and to prepare a detailed map of the country. Additionally, his notes helped set the foundations for a precise mapping of Central Asia.
In the publisher's original blue cloth binding, with titles stamped in gilt to spine and gilded decorative stamp to front board. Inscribed and signed by previous owner to front endpaper "from Brandon, 1.11.57/10/6, 2 vols." With frontispiece and three-hundred-and-eight illustrations as well as two folding maps.

Spine is age tone, with particular creasing to spine of volume one. Library sticker to front board and pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. Offsetting to free endpapers, and minor spotting to folding maps pages and edges, not affecting pages which are otherwise clean throughout. Minor chipping to the odd leaf.
